Dubai Holding Community Management has entered a strategic partnership with ReFarm Global Investments to launch the region’s first-of-its-kind “Sea to Soil” initiative, marking a pioneering milestone in sustainable community management and circular economy.
Signed by Francis Giani, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding Community Management, and Oliver Christof, Chief Executive Officer of ReFarm Global Investments, the partnership introduces an innovative model that reimagines how communities can manage and regenerate environmental resources by transforming algae and organic waste into sustainable landscaping and soil enhancement solutions.
As Dubai continues to advance its long-term sustainability ambitions, initiatives that support resource recovery, circularity and environmental regeneration are playing an increasingly important role in shaping future-ready communities.
One of the first initiatives under this partnership focuses on Palm Jumeirah. Through pilot recycling trials, 120 kg of algae waste was successfully converted into 31 kg of nutrient-rich "Re-Soil "compost to support landscaping and soil enhancement efforts within the community.
The initiative reflects a circular approach where waste generated within the community can be repurposed and reintegrated back into the same environment, supporting greener landscapes, more sustainable operations and resilient community ecosystems.
This partnership reinforces DHCM’s commitment to advancing circular economy initiatives and creating more sustainable, resilient and future-ready communities across Dubai while supporting the UAE’s wider sustainability ambitions and Net Zero goals.
